We will be leaving a bit later than timetabled but that's fine. It appears the sail out to the Atlantic is a lot quicker because of the speed of flow of the river. So we'll be fine for Santarem tomorrow. Meanwhile time to take it easy, wait for our carpet to be dried and refitted, and carry on.

Day 37 8/2/2017 Parintins
Not a very good day so far, unfortunately. We were late arriving, anchor and tender transfer as Parintins, in Amazonas is such a small port. The tender transfers were ridden with problems such as collision accidents, engine failures, electrical faults, broken glass and grumpy passengers. That occasional "herded" feeling was here again, as we were asked to wait in the Peninsular restaurant and called by numbers for the available tenders. This is not a good thing in the tropics! Lamentably we were all waiting over an hour in the restaurant for the news and then it sounded as though we were really on a loser. Once the offer came of a 100% refund for people who decide to give the Boi Bumba excursion a miss, we decided to abort and had lunch on board and an afternoon of rest instead!
