Progreso! Quite a long walk to the bus but it was worth it. We then shuttled to Progreso and experienced anything but tourist Mexico, along the coastline, along some old streets, then in a traditional Mexican market. It's poor here, a lot of derelict buidlings and makeshift accommodation. Street selling, street food, coffee stalls, all really enchanting. Today we had very hot sunny weather, 25C
I've been to Mexico 3 times now - Mexico city in 2008, Huatulco and Cabo San Lucas on our world cruise after the Panama Canal in 2015 and now the Yucatan Peninsular. Lovely. Unfortunately there weren't any tours available without 1-2 hours of walking, so we didn't see beyond the town, but what we saw and experienced was very good and different. I would come here again.
As we are heading east again overnight we will have to put our clocks on an hour at 2 a.m. so tomorrow we will be at GMT -5. But it's a sea day so we won't be in a hurry!
